Good ol’ BBQ sauce. The perfect companion to BBQ. There are thousands, and thousands of different BBQ sauces throughout the world. So many people have different preferences on flavor and spice, and it makes it tough to stand out. I’m not going to make any claims that this recipe stands out amongst the best of the world, but it sure does taste pretty dang good! I love sweet BBQ, but if you mix heat in with that sweetness, you have completely won me over. When I was developing this recipe, my goal was to find that perfect sweetness that I love, with a nice spark of spicy to bring it home. Some people like things spicy, and this may seem mild to them. Others hate spicy food and this could seem like straight up lava to them. If you are an in-between person, this is the sauce for you.
When I think of western BBQ, I think of cowboys, and ranchers. It may not be the most accurate imagination in the world, but I picture the flavors as being slightly smoky, a little bit spicy, and just the right amount of sweet. This sauce captured all of those things for me. Most of these ingredients are pretty common in homes, or are easy to get at the local grocery store. I hope this sauce takes you guys on the great western BBQ journey as it did with me! Enjoy!
